Webcam or Phone?

In author’s experience, faculty who currently incorporate videos into their teaching are split about 50/50 in whether they create their videos using the webcams on their computers or their smartphones. She would also encourage teachers to try each type of video a couple of times before they decide what works best for them. As an initial step, it is worth comparing the quality of their webcam’s and phone’s cameras. In short, the phone’s camera quality is slightly better than the webcam’s. For some, the desire for a sharp-looking video will be paramount in their decision-making process. There are other factors to consider when comparing their computer webcam to their phone. The author has record most of her videos for her students using her computer. It is also entirely possible that some new technology will arrive that people will want to integrate into their videos in the future.
