Deeper Learning Through Integration

James E. Zull · 2023

This chapter discusses the back integrative cortex and front integrative cortex separately, beginning with the back and its function of creating meaning from experience. An aspect of back cortex integration that is central to reading is the perception of the spatial relationships between the letters in words. This is a good spot to pause and become consciously aware that the authors have reached a major turning point in this discussion of integration. As far as they know, this is a continuing process of creative integration that occurs only in the human mind. Here are a few of these differences and capabilities: Creative integration does not involve working with large amounts of data at a time. This may seem like a drawback, but it is also an advantage in that the authors are not required to work with highly complex scenarios during creative integration.
