Fingerprint Security System Using Arduino

International Research Journal of Modernization in Engineering Technology and Science · 2023

This project demonstrates how to use the Arduino, a well-liked microcontroller platform, to construct a fingerprint security system. The system uses biometric authentication via fingerprint recognition in an effort to increase security. An Arduino board, a fingerprint sensor module, and an indication part like an LED or buzzer are all included in the hardware setup. The Arduino is linked to the fingerprint sensor module, and the Arduino IDE has the libraries required for the module installed.During implementation, fingerprints are enrolled by being photographed and having their data saved in the module. The collected fingerprint is then compared to the registered fingerprints in a verification procedure, which determines whether access is granted or denied. The indicator component of the system uses visual or audible feedback to show if access has been allowed or denied. The solution includes security features including securely storing fingerprint data and introducing a timeout function to stop brute-force assaults.Users can interact with the system and carry out administrative tasks through a user-friendly interface, which may employ an LCD display, buttons, or a keypad. The initiative stresses the significance of safeguarding fingerprint data that has been stored and putting in place recording and audit trail methods to monitor access attempts. The functionality of the security system can be increased by integrating it with other systems, such as electronic locks or home automation systems. To ensure system dependability even during power outages, power supply and backup solutions are highlighted as important factors. The fingerprint security system can provide an efficient and reliable level of security by adhering to best practises in hardware and software development.easy access control and authentication methods. The overall goal of this project is to demonstrate the integration of biometric technology with a widely available microcontroller platform to increase security and convenience. It does this by providing a thorough approach for setting up a fingerprint security system using Arduino.
