MANAGING PERFORMANCE OF BATTERY IN ELECTRIC VEHICLE AND TEMPERATURE SENSING

International Research Journal of Modernization in Engineering Technology and Science · 2023

The battery is every car's most important component. In order to ensure that the battery functions as intended, proper battery care is essential. In order to perform better in all circumstances, Lithium ion batteries, which are more frequently used in vehicle batteries, need to be monitored effectively. Therefore, it is necessary to implement a more organized battery management system in order to continuously monitor the battery's performance. The two most important metrics for the battery are its State of Charging (SoC) and State of Health (SoH).There are many trustworthy calculation methods. The materials of the battery, the environment it is in, and the load it is under will all have an effect on these variables, making it impossible for these methods to provide accurate results.Gases like hydrogen and oxygen are released when a battery is overcharged. This Battery Management System (BMS) monitors voltage, current, and temperature in addition to identifying the status of the battery when it is overcharged using an Atmega328 controller and sensors.Using an Atmega328 microcontroller, the project aims to create a Battery Management System (BMS) for electric vehicles that will keep track of the battery's State of Charge (SOC) and State of Health (SOH).The Atmega328 microcontroller will process the sensor data and communicate with the user via an LCD display. To guarantee the safety and dependability of the battery, the proposed BMS will also include overcharge and discharge protection, cell balancing, and temperature monitoring. The system is anticipated to offer an effective and dependable solution for managing the batteries in electric vehicles, improving their performance and extending their lifespan.
