A significant security vulnerability in IPv6 is attacks against the Neighbour Discovery Protocol (NDP). Attackers can target the SLAAC process using the Stateless Address Autoconfiguration (SLAAC) kind of NDP attack. SLAAC attacks can cause IPv6 link-local network disruption and expose confidential data. Researchers have proposed an attack detection approach to solve this issue. Complete background on IPv6., SLAAC., SLAAC attacks., and intrusion detection systems is attempted in the current study (IDS). One of the first papers to provide a new taxonomy for SLAAC attack detection mechanisms-attack detection and attack defense. Furthermore., we offer a thorough analysis of SLAAC attack detection methods and contrast them according to their shortcomings. It offers a critical evaluation of this essay. This article could be used as a resource and design manual for any future SLAAC attack detection systems for IPv6 link-local networks.
