A Review on Detecting Fake Accounts in Social Media

Social networking sites have gained popularity over the past years, and both the personal and community lives are becoming increasingly intertwined with these sites. Here, people use cloud computing to communicate with one another, share news, build communities, and even run their owne-commerce. Due to the explosive growth of Online environments and the massive amount of personal data gathered from their subscriptions, attackers and impostors have tried to get their personal information, propagate false news, and engage in malicious activities. Researchers, on the other hand, have begun looking into efficient ways to recognize anomalous behavior and fake accounts based on account features and classification techniques. This article compares and analyze different algorithms available in the literature for detecting fake accounts in social media. Random forest, Decision Tree and logistic regression are found to give improved accuracy in detecting the fakes social media accounts
