Jayanthi Ganapathy, M. Sathishkumar, Vishal Lakshmanan · 2023

Bullying is unwanted aggressive behaviour. However, an unintentional thought leading to aggressive behaviour is not bullying. In contrast, the same condition when reflected in using a digital device over online media is cyberbullying. Recent research has given much importance to the keyword ‘cyberbully detection’. The role of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) was recently established in text mining, analytics and natural language processing in cyberbullying. This chapter presents the concept of AI and ML applied to social media crime due to cyberbullying. This chapter aims to explain the importance of text analytics in social media crimes with an illustrative case study on fake news detection. Towards the end, the chapter concludes with a summary and directions to address the research challenges left to work on in the future.
