Vic Costello · Focal Press eBooks · 2023

The digital revolution made it possible for the products of human creativity like text, graphics, photographs, film and video, sound, and animation, to be represented numerically as machine code that can be written, read, and processed by computers. Like Morse code, computers use a binary language system comprised of two characters (zero and one). File management is the process of managing, storing, and organizing digital files on a computer drive or memory card. The term storage is used to describe the numerous devices capable of recording digital information. The three categories of computer storage are fixed storage, removable storage, and network-attached storage.
