MRI-Based Image Synthesis
Tonghe Wang, Xiaofeng Yang · 2023
MRI-based image synthesis has been an active research field since MRI-only radiation therapy treatment planning was proposed. Synthesizing computed tomography (CT) images from MR images is the most investigated topic that is useful in replacing CT with MR in the treatment planning workflow. The recent development of machine learning in computer vision introduced novel data-based methods that are presented to have better performance as well as to be more versatile such that synthesizing positron emission tomography (PET) and cone-beam CT is now viable. In this chapter, we reviewed the current progress in MRI-based image synthesis with a brief review of the literature. Current challenges and future directions are also discussed.
