In order to observe accurately the effect of the solar eclipse on the geomagnetic field we constructed new type of visual magnetic variometer which has high sensitivity, extreme stability and much better responsibility for frequency.We used this variometer at the magnetic observation camp of Ceylon and succeeded in taking a fine records of changes of earth's magnetic field.We must first mention that this magnetic vario-, meter is constructed under the guidance of Dr. Yasushi Watanabe, directer of Research Institute of Electrical Communication who was the chairman of the Commitee of "Investigation on the method of detecting the weak magnetic field".We must express our hearty thanks to him on this occasion.
