Domain-Specific Estimates

This chapter moves away from overall/global disparity estimation to that of domain-specific estimation where domains represent sub-groups of interest as defined by geographic areas, socio-economic groupings or something other sub-groups. The chapter describes both direct and indirect estimation using the machinery of small area estimation (SAE). Both frequentist and Bayesian approaches are detailed. Finally, some space is devoted to certain types of robust SAE methods including observed best prediction (OBP).
