A Comparative Analysis of RPL-based Routing Protocols for Internet of Things
Hafizur Rahman, Arnab Roy, Md. Iftekhar Hussain · 2023
The Internet of Things is becoming very popular in this technical age. Due to the resource-constraint characteristic of IoT, enabling seamless connectivity and packet routing in this type of network are challenging. The main goal of lightweight routing protocol is to reduce end-to-end delay, save energy, and balance the load in overall networks. In this paper, we present a brief overview of existing IoT routing protocols based on IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks by pointing out their pros and cons. Further, we analyze some selected IoT routing protocols, RPL and ORPL, and compare their results based on the packet delivery ratio, latency, duty cycle, duplicate traffic, etc.
