Bracketing Numerical Methods for Solving Systems of Nonlinear Equations

Nayef Mohamed Ghasem · 2023

The closed method is the method that begins with a period, inside of which there must be a root. The methods use a bounded interval, which usually converges slowly and finds a root if it exists. Open methods differ from bracketing methods in that they require only a single starting value or two starting values that do not necessarily bracket a root. They usually converge quickly but may not find a root if it exists. This chapter covers the graphical methods and the closed root-finding numerical methods to solve nonlinear algebraic equations manually. The methods utilized are graphical, bisectional, and a false position. The programming of these methods is explained using Simulink and the widely used open-source Python programming language [ 1 ].
