A comparative study on conversion of hand gestures to text and speech for blind, deaf, and mute people

Interchanging of thoughts is the main channel through which people communicate with one another. In recent years the number of blind, silent, and deaf victims have increased due to congenital defects, mishaps, and oral diseases. Since blind, dumb, and deaf people cannot communicate with common people, they rely on some form of optical communication. Sometimes people misinterpret these messages through sign language, lip-reading, or lip-syncing. Different types of work are done in this area, based on hardware and software. The motive of this study is to gain insights into the work done in this area that will help us to develop a more accurate model to help specially challenged people the main goal of this paper is to identify different technologies used for converting hand movements into sound or text and get their pros and cons so that more efficient technologies can be developed.
