Approaches to Relation Extraction for Nested Named Entities

Abstract The paper studies approaches to extract relations between so called nested named entities that is named entities, which can contain other named entities. We argue that most datasets annotated with nested named entities do not have relation markup. Therefore some state-of-the-art relation extraction models cannot extract relations between nested or overlapping entities because of the architecture or input format. We use recently created NEREL corpus for Russian annotated with nested named entities and relations between them.
