Tree Structures, Algorithms, and Performance

One of the most universally useful versions of a graph we have discussed (especially in Chapter 5) is a tree. It shows up in sales organizations where regions roll up to districts, which in turn roll up to sites and then to individual salespersons. Rolling up and comparing sales at each level year over year is one of the most important reports many organizations have. Rolling up sales by region is also be one of my primary demonstrations for each of the tree implementations I include in the individual chapters that will cover these methods in greater detail.
