Performance Assessment of DSDV and AODV Routing Algorithms in MANET under Active Black Hole Assault

Diksha Shukla, Raghuraj Singh · 2023

MANET is well known for its self-configuration functionality, in which a network is built by collecting a large number of mobile devices. Transmission links between these mobile nodes are established using wireless technology, and they communicate with one another without use of any infrastructure. In comparison to the traditional networks, MANETs face additional challenges due to their distinctive features like changing network design, restricted power, and limited transmission bandwidth. Security is the biggest challenges in MANET routing protocols. One of the widely known threats to MANET’s security is the Black hole assault which degrades the network performance exponentially. This research examines and compares the effectiveness of DSDV and AODV routing protocols in the absence and presence of Black hole assaults. Performance in terms of the PDR, throughput, delay, and packet dropping ratio has been evaluated using NS2 simulator.
