The WHO stated that BrC is the leading cause of death among women. It is estimated that 2.1 million women die annually due to the disease. In 2020, 15% (685,000) of all deaths were caused by BrC. Deep learning has been developing rapidly in the field of computer vision. Its performance has surpassed human beings in certain areas, such as categorisation detection and semantic segmentation. Developers of advanced BrC detection systems have been widely praised for detecting the disease at an early stage which helps prevent it from spreading. This study reviewed the performance of computer-aided systems (CAD) that can detect and diagnose BrC. It also discussed the data sets that are used to evaluate these systems. The paper also covered the various challenges in developing effective computer-aided systems for BrC detection. This survey&s;s three main aspects are discussed: the basics of BrC, DL, ML, and the data sets used to evaluate these systems. A detailed analysis of each paper is included in the survey so readers can easily customise their versions of the works.
