As I See It (The Future of Information)

Charles Handy · 2023

Virtual organisations are wonderfully cheap – they need no offices, heating or cleaners. Villagers in India will have access to the world outside no different from the rich man in his Californian hideaway. Knowledge can rain down upon the poor and the wealthy, the near and the far, alike. Spring will still smell as nice, perhaps nicer, since information does less harm to our environment than messy steel or cars, and Shakespeare’s plays will still have meaning because they deal with love and jealousy, ambition and avarice, pride and compassion, death and the meaning of life, and such things do not go away. Perhaps, however, more people will see them, in more languages and in more settings and if that spreads a better understanding of life’s mystery.
