Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming one of the most growing technology in the current century. Cloud computing and IoT have become dependent on each other. Cloud services providers ensure the availability of customer data and protect it from external threats and attacks. However, the IoT providers must guarantee that the collected data should hold its secrecy and confidentiality from cloud service providers. Therefore, many IoT providers began setting various controls and regulations on how data should be processed and shared, leading to a higher adaptation of homomorphic encryption(HE). This paper provides an introduction to homomorphic encryption with its different types. It will go through some of the different adaptations of homomorphic encryption. It concludes with a comparison between the different ways of implementing homomorphic encryption within IoT and each method's strengths and weaknesses.
