The Glansdorff-Prigogine Variational Principle and Dynamic Programming

The variational problem posed by the local potential of Glansdorff and Prigogine is solved by the technique of dynamic programming for the simple case of one-dimensional heat flow. It is suggested that the technique will also be applicable to more complicated problems.
