Artificial Intelligence-Based Methods for SARS-CoV-2 Detection with CRISPR Systems

SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2) is the cause of the recent 2019 new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which has prompted considerable public fear. Quick, low-cost, and accurate SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics are crucial for early diagnosis and pandemic control. CRISPR technology has shown considerable promise for very sensitive and precise molecular diagnostics in recent years. In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there is increasing interest in adopting CRISPR diagnostic tools to develop speedy and accurate SARS-CoV-2 testing methods. We take a look at the characteristics of various CRISPR-based diagnostic tools in this work. We also discuss how artificial intelligence will be utilized in CRISPR-based COVID-19 analysis to improve assay performance.
