Manufacturing Upright- and Grand-Piano Cases

Abstract In this paper the author tells of the various manufacturing operations that are necessary to complete piano cases, and describes the system of following work used by the Foster-Armstrong Company. Emphasis is placed on the fact that an efficient planing system is most essential to obtain best results. Operations carried out in the various departments together with the special machine tools used are described.
