DETERMINATION OF MAXIMUM DROP SIZES IN ANNULAR GAS/LIQUID FLOW

The problem of identifying the size of the largest drop in a population from a sample of finite size is addressed. Using the statistics of extremes, the dependence of the observed maximum with sample size is explained and a methodology for determining the maximum in the population is proposed.
