Performance Evaluation of IoT-enabled WSN system With and Without DDoS Attack
Kavita S. Kumavat, Joanne Gomes · 2023
Today most applications and systems are using IoT-enabled wireless sensor networks. In an IoT-enabled (WSN) wireless sensor network system, there are many ways to introduce several Distributed Denial of Service attacks. The system changes its behavior when an attack is introduced in the system. In this paper, the authors compare the system’s working and performance measures before and after the attack are detected in the system. The authors developed IoT-enabled Wireless Sensor Network using a network simulator in which the authors consider 10% of nodes as attacker nodes. The authors describe a system working without attack. Also, the authors describe a system performance after an attack is detected by using a network simulator by evaluating different performance parameters. Performance parameters such as average PDR (packet delivery ratio), Throughput, average Consumed Energy, average Delay, and average Overhead are evaluated in the final results.
