A review on recognizing offline Tamil manuscript character

Handwritten recognition refers to a computer's capacity to recognise and understand comprehensible handwritten input from a variety of sources, including paper documents, photos, and touch displays. OCR is a technique that converts skimmed paper documents, PDF files and digital camera images into updatable and searchable data automatically. Handwritten character recognition is playing a major part to reduce their labour costs and to save precious man hours and enabling research to take place in Optical character recognition technique. Offline Manuscript character recognition is the technique of using machines to recognize handwriting by dissimilar people with varied handwriting in different languages. Machines have a hard time distinguishing between handwritings in the same language in various places and conditions. The accuracy with which the machine can recognize these handwritten records is a critical factor due to variation size, style and orientation angle. This study has presented a complete assessment of various techniques for Tamil offline handwritten character recognition during the past few years. The usage of several feature extraction technique and classification approach in Tamil offline handwritten character recognition is discussed.
