Problems of Proper Names: Ajdukiewicz and Some Contemporary Results

In this paper I argue that Ajdukiewicz as a pioneer of categorial grammar raised the question of the syntactic category of proper names in natural languages and made further investigations in the domain possible. I hint also at some connections between the modern model-theoretic approach to proper names and Ajdukiewicz’s ideas.
