Symmetries can be represented by mathematical objects called groups. Groups being mathematical structures themselves, we can consider the symmetries of groups themselves, much like a symmetry of symmetries. Automorphisms are precisely these symmetries. We can repeat this process iteratively and question the existence of a self-similar group.
