In the previous chapter, we covered the basics of monitoring the performance and health of a Hyperscale database. We explained Hyperscale database’s manual and automatically scaling features and showed how to scale to support different usage patterns and workloads. In this chapter, we will explain the advantages of Azure SQL Hyperscale deployments in detail in the examples. We will cover fast database backup and restore operations and explain why these operations provide some of the greatest advantages of Hyperscale compared to other Azure SQL Database service tiers.
