Design of Elixir-Based Edge Server for Responsive IoT Applications
Yushan Li, Satoshi Fujita · 2022
In this paper, we focus on edge computing, which supports mobile and IoT applications with edge servers located at the location close to end devices. We are particularly interested in methods that provide high expressive power in app development and flexible resource management on edge servers. The basic functions of the envisioned IoT applications are as follows: 1) asynchronously receive data input one after another from external devices such as sensors and reliably record them in a database, and 2) appropriately process requests received from users by referring to the database and promptly respond the results. This paper focuses on Elixir as a base programming language for developing such IoT applications. In order to confirm the effectiveness of this approach, we built a prototype of a cab dispatch system and evaluated its performance in a network environment.
