A Study on the Application Domains of Electroencephalogram for the Deep Learning-Based Transformative Healthcare
Suchitra Paul, Ahona Ghosh · 2023
Analysis of signals generated during different brain activities and excitations helps us know the status of the brain and the functionality of the whole body. Electroencephalogram (EEG) measures currents that flow within our brain during task execution using metal disks called electrodes attached to the human scalp. It is getting applied in a wide range of healthcare-based sectors, including gaming effect analysis on mental health, rehabilitative aid prescription, and monitoring physical and mental health. On the other hand, deep learning as an emerging artificial intelligence tool is widely used for medical purposes. This chapter deals with the description of different electrodes of EEG and their exact applications in different areas of deep learning-based transformative healthcare. Existing literature in the concerned domain has been analyzed based on different benefits and shortcomings in their performance. The gaps found in the same have motivated us to conduct an extensive study in this domain to find a possible research direction for future researchers.
