Document verification is a tedious and prolonged process. It uses many factors to authenticate a document, like its originality, expiration date, and legitimacy. Every document can have vastly diverse content and each of them has to be evaluated distinctly. Also, documents are prone to skillful duplicacy - which can be very hard to detect. This paper proposes a model which introduces the application of blockchain to verify documents, with special reference to educational records, which are maximally forged in recent generations. Recent advancements in Blockchain have broadened its use cases. One such use case, which is the analysis of blockchain and its role in the field of educational records maintenance, is the main focus of this paper. This paper also discusses some benefits and risks associated with the application of blockchain in the educational field. The proposed model helps in verifying an educational record and storing it on the blockchain. Verified documents are those which are acceptable among all the reputed institutions, and have a verification tag attached to them. This makes the document authentic.
