Zero-history blockchains and zero-knowledge contracts for the post quantum era

Jayamine Alupotha · Queensland University of Technology · 2023

We are living in the pre-quantum era, still wondering whether quantum computing is possible, akin to humankind 50 years ago who had no idea those room-filling computers could be shrunk into palm-sized mobile phones. In the interim, we must prepare our information systems, including decentralized blockchains, to withstand quantum adversaries. Alas, post-quantum cryptography comes with vastly more onerous space and time requirements, to the detriment of scalability. This work proposes new theories and protocols to achieve scalable blockchains that support privacy-preserving smart contracts, not only with classical security but also with post-quantum security.
