Foreword from the General Chair and Technical Program Chair and Vice Chair

2022

HPC Accelerates! This is the major theme of this year's conference on high performance computing, networking, storage, and analysis as we return to Dallas, Texas, USA during the week of November 13-18, 2022.The supporting themes of Reunion (as symbolized by the Conference Logo based on the Reunion Tower in Dallas) and Going Green are implemented through emphasizing the in-person experience at SC22 for people coming together in Dallas while also providing a Digital Experience for those choosing to join virtually and thus reducing their travel related carbon footprint.SC22 is very proud to host the Turing Lecture this year, to be given by Dr. Jack Dongarra, winner of the 2021 ACM A. M. Turing Award for pioneering contributions to numerical algorithms and libraries that enabled high performance computational software to keep pace with exponential hardware improvements for over four decades. This is an unprecedented first for the SC conference, and we are honored that Dr. Dongarra chose SC22 to present this landmark lecture. This volume, containing the accepted technical papers and ACM Gordon Bell prize finalists, captures the best current research in all aspects of High Performance Computing (HPC).The SC22 Archive at the conference web site sc22.supercomputing.orgcomplements this volume by collecting other high quality, peer-reviewed material including research posters, the visualization & data analytics showcase, panels, birds of a feather, workshops, and tutorials.Covid-19 is still with us, and research related to Covid-19 continues to accelerate.SC22 is pleased to host the Gordon Bell Special Prize for High Performance Computing-Based COVID-19 Research, which will be awarded once again at SC22.Adding a New Track: SC22 has added a new track in Papers called Post Moore Computing. This new technical papers track will provide a home for papers on emerging technologies, such as quantum, neuromorphic, probabilistic and approximate computing.
