Feature Selection Methods and Algorithms

In this chapter, various feature selection methods, algorithms, and the research problems related to each category are discussed with specific examples. From the diverse sources, data have been gathered, which might contain some anomalies. The voluminous feature sets are combined with pertinent, extraneous, and misleading features during data collection. Feature selection is mainly employed for substantial feature selection with importance. The basic types of feature selection methods used are filter, wrapper, embedded and hybrid. In addition to the basic methods, the online feature selection methods are also highlighted with the use of swarm intelligence based algorithms.
