Semantic communication (SemCom) is a phenomenal technology to break through the Shannon paradigm. It is considered a key enabler for communication technology beyond the fifth generation of mobile networks (B5G) and its applications. In SemCom, transmitting data contain semantic information rather than symbols or bits, regardless of its meaning. In this paper, we propose a novel system model for Augmented Reality (AR)-based services in wireless networks. In which, instead of transmitting the whole input data to the multi-access edge computing (MEC) for processing, end-users (UEs) are transmitted only semantic features that are extracted from the original input data. By doing so, we can reduce a considerable amount of data traffic in the uplink scenario for wireless communication. Numerical results reveal that our proposed approach significantly reduces the total amount of data traffic in uplink scenarios for AR-based services.
