Blockchain Technology and Its Application in Higher Education

Blockchain technology is considered to be one of the most promising technologies for reconstructing education in the 21st century. Compared with the rapid development of online education, traditional institutions show disadvantages in school management, recording students’ learning process and certification. This paper presents the combination of blockchain technology and education, that makes the results and processes of education real and credible, and the decentralized education platform also helps to form a new teaching evaluation model and an open sharing system of digital teaching resources. So as to realize the learning achievement certification and credit mutual recognition of learners in different educational institutions, at different times and in different places, and eventually, stimulate learner to achieve lifelong learning goals.
