Speech Assistance: Use Cases in Industry

Over the past few years, there has been a boost in the use of commercial virtual assistants in the smart home and entertainment domain. Expectations have risen that this technology from consumer market will soon be adopted in industrial applications. However, the functionality they offer and the adaptability to a specific domain is limited. Companies are afraid to become “vendor-locked”, while data privacy issues remain unsolved. The described approach of the project SPEAKER opens a new path to industry adapted speech assistance that meets the needs for European data privacy regulations. First proof-of-concept implementations and a domain specific benchmarking of the automatic speech recognition component are introduced.
