Stimulus Control and Psychophysical Scaling: The Use of a Counting-Like Schedule in Quantifying Circle Size in the Pigeon
Werth, James A. · 1974
This study introduces a new approach to psychophysical scaling in infrahuman organism through the use of the \count\ schedule. Two pigeons were used to demonstrate the effectiveness of this method in enabling non-verbal subjects to \quantify” stimuli that vary along a single dimension. Data obtained in this study were used to produce a psychophysical scale comparing the relationship between perceived and actual physical size of several circles.
