Multiple Target Track-Before-Detect Using Sequential ML-PDA

The maximum likelihood probabilistic data association (ML-PDA) algorithm is the optimal detection algorithm in the maximum likelihood sense, but it has a key limitation that it is restricted to the single-target case. In this paper, we propose another ML-PDA algorithm for multi-target scenarios, called the Sequential ML-PDA (SML-PDA) algorithm. The SML-PDA algorithm can achieve multi-target detection and tracking without knowing the number of targets in advance. The simulation results prove the rationality of the SML-PDA algorithm. And the SML-PDA algorithm is applied to the measured data to validate its performance in real scenarios.
