MsdoBot: An Extensible Chabot Platform for Microservice Development and Operations

Yu‐Wen Huang, Shang‐Pin Ma, Shengkai Wang · 2022

The microservice architecture (MSA) is among the most popular systems in use today; however, development and operations are hindered by the variety of languages, platforms, and tools, as well as difficulties in collecting and organizing information scattered throughout complex DevOps environments. This study developed a chatbot system to facilitate the development and maintenance of MSAs under various usage scenarios dealing with single/multiple microservices, single/multiple tools, and atomic/composite functionality. The proposed MicroService Development and Operation Bot (MsdoBot) integrates numerous auxiliary tools to make available the information required for system development, as well as real-time system status reports for monitoring and maintenance. Notably, MsdoBot preserves extensibility by making it easier for users to add new functionality and integrate existing tools simply by altering configuration files.
