A Systematic Review on OCRs for Indic Documents & Manuscripts

India is a hub for knowledge treasure which are recorded and processed them through the use of many advanced methods in recent times. The recognition of characters helps in understanding the information from printed documents or texts when converted to human understandable language. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technique facilitates to recognize the text from Indian languages to English, which is a complex task due to varied scripts and handwriting ascents availability. This paper presents various approaches of OCR for Indian languages with different performance results. The analysis shows that OCR for Indian languages like Sanskrit, Tamil and others are still an unsolved challenge for many researchers globally.
