The Dynamic Method for Hpvle Experimentation

J. David Raal, Andreas L. Mühlbauer · 2023

This chapter discusses the unique and interesting features as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the dynamic types of experimental methods with examples from the literature. There are three types of dynamic apparatus, namely the single vapor pass method, the phase recirculation method and the single vapor and liquid pass method. A stream of gaseous component at a specific pressure is passed through a stationary liquid phase in the equilibrium cell. The pressure of the gaseous component and the temperature of the liquid phase are regulated, and both phases are sampled to generate the required vapor-liquid equilibrium data. The temperature and pressure of the mixture are maintained at the required values while either one or both phases are continuously withdrawn from the cell, recirculated, and sampled to generate the required vapor-liquid equilibrium phase diagram. In the single-phase recirculation method, one of the phases must be sampled from the equilibrium cell.
