AI- and IoT-Based Body Sensor Networks for Healthcare System

Divya Gangwani · 2023

In recent times, healthcare facilities are becoming more challenging for people especially in the rural areas where there are not enough provisions for medical diagnosis and treatments. “Artificial intelligence” (AI) and the “Internet of Things” (IoT) have revolutionized the standard of living for people and the healthcare system in the world. “Body sensor network” (BSN) has become one of the important areas in the field of research as it has gained a lot of popularity in today’s world. BSN can be attached to the body, or it can be used as a wearable sensor device. These sensors capture information from the human body such as vital signs, blood pressure, and heart rate. It can also record brain and heart activities using electroencephalogram and electrocardiography to check for irregular waves or movements. This data is then sent to the medical experts for diagnosis and analyzing the patient’s results. In this chapter, we aim to provide a review of an intelligent healthcare system that is based on IoT and deep learning technologies in AI which can identify serious health issues in patients and can also provide an option of low-cost treatment and hospital administration which will be very useful for elderly people or people living in the rural areas.
