Methods of eliminating systematic errors in signals distorted during processing by linear time-invariant systems using test measurements are proposed. The use of test measurements makes it possible to restore signals of processing systems of any complexity without determining their hardware functions, which usually belong to the class of generalized functions. Tikhonov’s regularization technique, used in methods with test measurements, allows solving ill-posed and ill-conditioned problems when restoring real non-deterministic signals. The reconstruction of continuous signals and discrete data by direct and spectral (using Fourier transforms) regularization techniques is considered, the features and areas of application of these techniques are described, and the recovery errors are estimated. The criteria are analyzed and recommendations are given for the selection of test signals and regularization parameters. The possibility of using test measurements for simulating the response of linear time-invariant systems to given actions is considered. Examples of reconstruction of 1D signals and restoration of 2D images are presented.
