In this paper, we propose a model that describes the multiple transmission rates utilization included in a wireless LAN environment considering the ground surface attributes and transmission power. The proposed model can derive the transmission rate according to the distance by giving the ground surface attribute and the transmission power and can estimate the theoretical throughput as a result. For estimating the transmission rate utilization, the advection diffusion equation in physics is used as the basic idea of the proposed model. In order to specify the parameters (advection and diffusion coefficient) of the proposed model, we measured the multi-transmission rate utilization when surface attributes, transmission power and distance were changed by using actual machines. Moreover, we show the effectiveness of the proposed model by comparing the parameter estimates obtained by the proposed model with the parameters obtained from the actual measurement.
