CSIR-NPL serves the nation as India's timekeeper. It has the responsibility to maintain and disseminate IST via various techniques. CSIR NPL is disseminating IST to the masses via NTP service with accuracy of few milliseconds. It is quite impressing to have a nationwide service with such a good synchronization offset. However, recently an experiment was undertaken to evaluate the performance of this service with geographically diversified, worlds leading NTP servers like Google, Facebook etc. It was observed that the offset of NTP service at CSIR-NPL is considerably more than that of other servers. In this paper a Genetic Algorithm (GA) based method is proposed to optimize the offset of NTP service.
