Sensor networks are a wonderful tool for many applications, but saving energy in such networks is an important issue. Data aggregation between the sensor nodes can be overwhelming unless information flooding is in place. The sensor nodes clustering may provide a solution to this problem. To solve this problem, there must be the optimal distribution of sensors and CHs so that the network life span is improved while energy consumption is minimized. To progress the network performance of the WSNs, this paper discusses a hybrid clustering technique that relies on K-Means clustering and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The evaluation of the proposed KPSO algorithm with traditional clustering techniques, such as Mod-LEACH and K-means clustering, has been done.
