Survey Paper on IoT based Intrusion Detection System: Datasets and Techniques

Samita Samita, Indu Chhabra, Nidhi Gautam · 2022

As the pervasiveness of IoT devices in intelligent applications, traditional cybersecurity protection strategies cannot be directly applied. Additionally, the heterogeneity, dynamics, and scalability of these devices require sophisticated security and protection strategies. Motivated by these factors, we examine current security and privacy mechanisms to provide an overview of both academic and industrial domains and pave the way for further investigation. In this article, we discuss IoT devices, their uses, and how to protect these devices with an intrusion detection system developed using different datasets and different machine learning techniques. At the same time, it addresses existing intrusion detection systems which detect and classify various attacks in a timely and automated manner, especially with the continuously growth in number of attacks due to nature of data used in different IoT gadgets and its complexity of network.
