Log Tracking Container-based Application Extensibility And Enhancement

Drupal is a crucial part of the CERN web infrastructure. Being such an integral part of the CERN community, Drupal sites need constant levelling up. A key part of development and maintenance is generating and viewing logging. The motivation of this project is to build a platform for users to easily access and view logs of their Drupal sites. Prior to this project there was no easy way to access logs of Drupal sites. If someone wanted to view logs of their Drupal site, they had to either raise a ticket and request for logs, which is a tedious process, or use OpenShift to access the specific pod running the Drupal site, which is a complex process and not straightforward. Another solution that comes up in mind is to provide developers access to Kibana Dashboard in order to view logs, but Kibana doesn’t have the ability to show user specific Drupal site logs (sites to which the user has access to) and instead shows logs of all Drupal sites to everyone which is undesirable. Hence, to tackle these problems, the Drupal Log Viewer was proposed to provide developers with a single platform to access and view logs of their Drupal sites
